Meet Bryan College graduate Asli Nur. Asli recently graduated from the Advanced Medical Spa Therapy program. Asli has always been interested in holistic health and healing and was curious to learn more about different healing subjects that interest her.
After completing her bachelor's degree in commerce, Asli traveled overseas to Holland to help care for her aunt, who was battling breast cancer. While there, Asli would give her aunt different massages to make her feel more comfortable. Her aunt would comment about how wonderful Asli was at giving massages; this wasn't the first time Asli had heard this. She had always been told she had a magic touch with massage. Once back home, she decided to pursue a more skill-based and physical career path incorporating different healing methods.
"I decided to look into massage therapy and found Bryan College. I researched different schools, and what I read about Bryan was great. I read reviews and graduate stories and knew it would be a perfect fit for me."
Asli was satisfied when she began at Bryan College. She found her enrollment process to be very seamless and the staff to be accommodating. "The staff at Bryan College are so amazing; they were always available and responsive."
She found her instructors and classmates to be excellent and supportive as well. To Asli, the campus and school felt like such an inviting community. "Bryan College felt like such a comfortable community. I would see friends around campus; to me, the campus felt like home. I always looked forward to going to school."
For Asli, Bryan exceeded her expectations. She felt her program covered many interesting and worthwhile topics. One of her favorite parts of the program was the medi-spa experience. Medi-spa is a practical experience where students use all the machines and techniques on actual clients they would use in a job.
"The medi-spa course at Bryan College was a great opportunity to learn what working in a spa or clinic would be like. It prepared me well for how to talk and interact with clients and handle myself in different situations."
Another aspect that Asli enjoyed about her program at Bryan College was the emphasis that coursework placed on the protocols for a spa technician. "You can take different certifications and learn the basic practices. However, at Bryan College, you are trained on all the protocols and steps to set up your machines - things that will affect how you handle clientele in the future."
Finally, Asli also liked the opportunity to learn about the business side, how to use social media to reach clients, and how to set up a spa business. It put Asli on track to start her business while still in school, and now she runs her own spa business. She offers massages, different skincare treatments, and facials.
Asli is currently completing her Masters in Public Health and is looking to combine her passion for healthy living, public health, and holistic healing to provide opportunities for healthy options for her clients and communities. "All of these topics that I have an interest in are connected; I believe that being a healthy person supports our communities - healthy people make healthy thriving communities."
