Meet Sharib Siddiqui, a Financial Aid Officer at Bryan College! Sharib joined the Bryan College team in February 2023 and his favorite part about his role is working with students and getting to know them.
As a Financial Aid Officer, Sharib helps students by explaining how their funds will be dispersed, helping them ensure they have all of the proper documentation, and assisting them as they plan out their financial needs. He enjoys getting to know the students and being able to help them as much as he can. "Students rely on the information you give them.”
Sharib moved to Canada in 2019 as an international student from his home in Delhi, India. He was eager to experience life as a student, but due to COVID-19, he completed most of his program online. His own experience as a student enables him to more effectively support Bryan College students, as he understands firsthand how challenging financial aid can be.
"I try to have empathy and understand what they're going through. I just want to give them the best experience possible.”
At Bryan College, Sharib works with a small and close-knit team. "I have a really supportive team,” he said. "Working here is like working as a family.” In India, Sharib worked in marketing and sales, and after he moved to Canada, he got his first job as a financial planner for another private college.
He loves that Bryan College is more student-focused than other institutions. "Everyone here is ready to help any student to try and solve their issue as soon as possible.” Getting feedback from students he’s helped is what keeps him motivated. "When I hear back from students saying 'you were awesome,' that really motivates me.”
Along with Bryan College's student-focused culture, Sharib appreciates working at an institution that respects his religious needs and accommodates his prayer breaks. "It's a really nice place to work, people are really supportive here, and they're ready to help you with any situation,” he said. "They let you be who you are.”
In his free time, Sharib enjoys watching sports and playing video games. He recently got married, and he enjoys trying new things with his wife — the most recent being pickleball! He’s excited to keep making Canada his home.
