Sami Falkenstein is a recent graduate from the Bryan College Health Fitness Trainer diploma program. As an athlete her entire life, Sami has a genuine interest in physical training and the human body.
Sami had been taking courses in a full-time master of sociology program and was looking to enhance her skills as a trainer. After researching different programs, the flexibility of Bryan College's 100% online and diploma programs was a critical factor in Sami's decision. "I think education is such a powerful tool. I wanted a program to bridge the gap between my practical hands-on experience and my missing educational piece. The program at Bryan College did just that."
As a lifelong athlete and elite soccer player, Sami understands the value of health, fitness, and training. And for her, a key component of getting this diploma would be to give back, especially to young women about to embark on a journey similar to hers. "I love helping people, and having them reach their personal goals is rewarding. Completing this program enables me to do something valuable to me."
As a full-time master's student with a job, Sami needed a program that would be accessible and flexible. "The fact that I could do this program while working, doing my masters, and having a life was such an attractive part of the program. The program is wonderful because you can do it anywhere and anytime. It takes into consideration how busy life can be, which a lot of programs don't."
Sami felt that the staff and administrators did a fantastic job, especially since the program is 100% online, and she never met anyone in person. "They did an excellent job of quickly organizing everything you need and meeting you where you are. They are good at making it work based on your schedule and timelines. Everyone was so very accommodating."
While Sami had prior knowledge due to her experience as an athlete and trainer, she felt the Bryan College program was a strong foundation that genuinely set her up for success. "By completing the health fitness trainer program, I know I will always have this strong foundation. I can take everything I have learned, confidently take the certification exams, and train more confidently."
Another aspect of the program that Sami enjoyed was the variety of ways the material was presented. "There were so many varieties of learning that made it easy to digest information." She felt that the Zoom live classes, discussion forums, and video responses gave plenty of opportunities to engage with the instructor and her other classmates, creating a strong sense of community. She also felt this teaching model allowed for many types of learners to understand the material.
Sami is pleased that she decided to participate in this program, "I didn't know what to expect from a fully online program, but it exceeded my expectations, and I am really grateful for the opportunity."
